Change of Recycling Pick-up Day

GFL Environmental will be changing the pick-up day for recycling as of October 6, 2025. The new recycling pick-up day will be on Mondays and trash service will continue to be on Tuesdays.
Chipper Jones Park Playground Temporarily Closed

As of Wednesday, September 3, 2025, the playground at Chipper Jones Park will be closed for up to 30 days while Public Works removes unsafe and aging equipment, cleans the remaining equipment, and performs general maintenance.
Public Meeting for FRDAP Grant

The Town of Pierson will hold a public meeting to discuss the Town applying for a grant under the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (FRDAP) during the 2026-2027 funding cycle. The applications are due September 30, 2025. The grant application includes improvements to Chipper Jones Park, including new playground equipment and other improvements.
Labor Day Office Closure

The Town of Pierson will be closed Monday, September 1, 2025 for Labor Day. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Surplus Auction

The Town of Pierson is auctioning surplus equipment through George Gideon Auctioneers. The auction will run from Tuesday, August 5, 2025 until Tuesday, August 19, 2025.

Garbage Collection Information

Please be aware that residents within Town limits are required to have an account with our contracted waste management company, GFL Environmental. You must pay GFL directly for the garbage collection service. GFL will provide paid customers with a sticker to place on your can in order for your trash to be picked up.
GFL Environmental notified us that they will send trucks on Friday, July 25th to pick up all trash from paid customers.
Some residents have complained that they paid for a sticker but have not received it in the mail. If you have paid for a sticker but not received it in the mail, GFL should still collect your garbage on Tuesday. They informed us they would have a list of all currently paid customers.

Airport runway closed

Please note that the runway at the airport is closed until 11:59PM on July 31, 2025, or until further notice. This is due to wet areas and standing water from recent heavy rains.
GFL garbage pick-up delayed due to weather

GFL was unable to complete their garbage pick-up routes today, Tuesday, July 15th, due to weather. We have been informed that they will resume garbage pick-up tomorrow and Thursday, July 16th and 17th.
Town Hall closed in observance of Independence Day

Pierson Town Hall will close at 12:00pm on Thursday, July 3, 2025 and remain closed on Friday, July 4, 2025 in observance of the 4th of July. We will be open for normal business hours on Monday, July 7, 2025.
15th Annual July 4th Family Fun Celebration

North Road Closure

North Road Closure - May 19-23, 2025
UPDATE May 23, 2025: The culvert replacement on North Road is complete and the roadway is now open.
North Road will be closed beginning May 19, 2025 while Volusia County replaces the culvert damaged by Hurricane Milton. The entire road will be closed from S. Volusia Avenue (County Road 3) to Western Avenue.
National Day of Prayer 2025

Join us Thursday, May 1st at 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM for the National Day of Prayer. We will greet everyone at the flag pole in front of the Pierson Town Center, 116 W. 1st Avenue.
Free Pet Rabies Vaccines & Microchips

Volusia County Animal Services will be at Chipper Jones Park in Pierson on May 12, 2025 from 9:00am to 12:00pm, providing free rabies vaccines and microchips for residents' pets.
